VC and Scoring Corner

The Registrar quite often works closely with the Volunteer Coordinator.  In some extreme situations there are Registrars who also act as a VC or the Scoring Director as well as doing registration.  This is NOT recommended.  It really is best for everyone if there are three individual people performing these jobs.

In the event you would like more information about the JaSper scoring program you can join the group list at: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/iac-jasper/.  This list has convenient information about changes and updates to the scoring program as well as discussions on situations that have come up at contests and how they were solved.  You can access the current version of the scoring program at:
http://home.comcast.net/~bwanabawb/JaSPer.html.

The Volunteer Coordinator has a lot of responsibility that directly translates into keeping the contest moving smoothly.  Evaluating the the volunteer pool and working with the order of flight to plug in Judges, assistants and recorders so you don't burn anyone out before they fly is a real skill.

  1. While this is not a registration issue, scoring can be tightly woven with some who work in registration. Remember to sign up for the iac-jasper group email. Currently there were some issues at the LA Gold cup involving issues with competitors who were flying for patches placing in the final standings. Visit the group and see the details from Leni on 05/10/11: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/iac-jasper/.
